The Housing Department is committed to ensuring that every Sqwá First Nation member has access to safe, healthy, and affordable housing. Our mission is to build a strong community through quality living spaces that support well-being and growth.

Available Housing
Currently, there are 13 Band-owned homes rented to members, with no vacancies at this time. Recognizing the need for more rental homes, Skwah FN is actively working to address this demand. Members interested in renting a home in the community are encouraged to submit an application form, helping the Housing Department better understand the demand and secure necessary funding.
New in 2024
We are excited to announce the upcoming addition of a six-unit apartment complex exclusively for Sqwá members. This new development will provide much-needed housing options and further support our growing community.
2025 and Beyond
2025 marks an exciting expansion for Sqwá First Nation with the commencement of construction on 22 new market homes by a CP Holder. The property taxes levied on these homes will generate vital revenue for the Nation, enhancing our planning ability and program capacity.
Shelter is a basic right, and we are dedicated to providing new housing opportunities.
Home Maintenance
As a general rule, homeowners are responsible for most maintenance issues. However, in emergencies, Sqwá FN may be able to assist the homeowner, facilitating relationships between Members and specialist services, such as plumbing, electrical, and gas-fitting.
Renters are responsible for minor maintenance issues as outlined in the Housing Policy Handbook. Sqwá FN will handle all other maintenance and repair issues, including replacing capital items as they wear out.
